Learn. Create. Vibe. Inspire.

Neurodivergent Music Educator, PhD Student, Musician, Adjudicator, Advocate, Mom, Wife, Friend, Coach

Welcome! I'm a high school music educator and PhD student based in Prince Edward Island, with more than 15 years of experience building music programs that invite students to be creative, take risks, and feel a true sense of belonging at both the secondary and post-secondary levels.

My work bridges classroom practice and research, from co-developing PEI’s Popular Music Performance curriculum and directing the Three Oaks R&B Band, to exploring agency, creativity, equity, and justice-oriented transformation in my doctoral studies.

Throughout my work, I connect my interest in better understanding my neurodivergence and helping others recognize both strengths and challenges that come with operating outside the lines. I believe that meaningful learning grows from compassion, curiosity, and authentic connection.

Work & Projects

Popular Music Performance

Co-creator of PEI’s Popular Music Performance curriculum, I’ve helped reimagine what high school music can be—centered on creativity, collaboration, and student voice. The program connects real-world musicianship with inclusive, authentic learning that resonates beyond the classroom.

Adjudication Services

As an experienced adjudicator, I focus on constructive, encouraging feedback that supports growth, confidence, and artistry. My goal is to help young musicians and educators reflect, connect, and celebrate the joy of live performance. Recent adjudication experience includes working with concert bands and chamber ensembles at the Atlantic Festivals of Music in Halifax, NS (May 2026), and with instrumental soloists, small ensembles, jazz bands, chamber ensembles, and concert bands at the Truro Music Festival in Truro, NS (April 2025).

Neurodiversity Focus

Drawing from lived experience as a neurodiverse educator and researcher, I explore how understanding executive functioning and neurodiversity can transform teaching and learning. Through workshops and coaching, I aim to help neurodiverse educators better understand how their differently wired brains face challenges, but more importantly, bring unique gifts to the teaching profession. Together, we can move away from the 'deficits' to embrace possibility, empathy, and community.

PhD Research

My doctoral research examines how creativity, agency, and equity shape belonging and transformation in secondary music education. By studying lived classroom experiences, I aim to amplify the voices of students and educators creating new pathways for meaningful music learning.
